Leadership
Germal was the Director of Aviation Development within the Malaysian Aviation Commission (MAVCOM) since its inception in June 2015 until June 2021. He was instrumental in the establishment of MAVCOM and responsible for the evaluation of air services, airport, and ground handling licences and permits, as well as aero-political and regulatory matters.
Prior to MAVCOM, Germal worked with Malaysia Airlines for 34 years, with his last position as SVP, International and Government Affairs, ahead of joining Air Asia in 2014 as Head of Regulatory and Airport Relations. Previous job responsibilities include managing and developing corporate relationships and representation with government, regulatory, and industry agencies at both national and international levels to facilitate strategic and operational objectives of major airlines.
Germal also played a key role in the negotiation, facilitation, and implementation of Malaysia Airlines’ entry into the Oneworld Alliance in 2012. He also represented the airlines at both governmental and airline levels to strategize, develop, and implement liberalization in the aviation industry for the region under the ASEAN “Open Skies” Agreement.
Augustinas joined Ascend Airways from aircraft maintenance and repair organisation, JETMS. Augustinas has a master’s degree in management and economics and an MBA from Vilnius University.
Wan Harris is a highly experienced pilot with over 30 years in aviation. His previous role at Etihad Airways involved training and qualifying pilots on complex Boeing aircraft, demonstrating his in-depth knowledge and leadership.
Wan’s prior experience includes flying various Airbus and Boeing models, showcasing his adaptability. Throughout his career, he has held both instructor and examiner positions, highlighting his strong communication and instructional skills. Wan’s ability to manage complex projects was evident in his role as Chief Pilot, Projects, at MYAirline. Here, he led key initiatives for growth, including inducting widebody aircraft, establishing charter operations, and aircraft leasing negotiations.
Captain Aminullah is a highly respected pilot with 29 years of experience, excelling in training, instruction, and leadership. In his role as Chief Pilot, Training and Standards, he prioritises safety by overseeing pilot training and ensuring adherence to strict aviation standards. He manages crew recruitment and meticulously selects a highly qualified pilot team. Additionally, he spearheads the selection of training organizations and ensures program updates reflect best practices.
Aminullah’s prior experience at Batik Air as an B737NG TRI, CRMI Instructor, and Test Pilot honed his training expertise. He delivered comprehensive pilot training programs and actively conducted CRM training for both flight and cabin crew, fostering effective communication and teamwork for a safer flight environment. He was also more recently at Raya Airways where he held the position of Chief Pilot, Training and Standards.
Captain Zahirudin is a highly qualified and experienced pilot with a distinguished career in aviation safety and operations. Throughout his tenure at Malaysia Airlines, he has flown both the 737 CL and NG variants and has held various leadership positions including Chief Pilot Operations, Fleet Manager, and Instructor. His achievements include consistently delivering excellent on-time performance and leading high performing teams that have been recognized with prestigious awards including the Anugerah Wau 2013 and MH Anugerah 2012.
Captain Zahirudi previously held the position of Chief Pilot Operations at SKS Airways, leveraging his extensive experience to ensure the airline’s safe and efficient operations at all times.
Shamsul Idrus boasts an impressive 30-year career spanning various aviation sectors. He began by honing exceptional customer service skills and understanding passenger needs while working with passengers at Malaysia Airlines. Fuelled by a passion for cargo operations, Shamsul transitioned to Japan Airlines and AirAsia, excelling in both cargo and customer service roles.
Shamsul’s ambition propelled him to senior leadership positions at Raya Airways and FlyGlobal Charter. He further strengthened his cargo handling expertise by overseeing cargo ground operations, ensuring seamless ground operations. Shamsul’s most recent role as Head of Ground Handling at Pos Aviation underscores his adaptability and extensive knowledge across various ground operations within the aviation industry.
Linda is an experienced marketing and aviation professional with over 17 years of experience driving brand awareness, marketing campaigns, and strategic partnerships across various industries.
She brings a unique blend of commercial acumen, honed within the aviation industry, as well as strong communication skills, which she has developed in various marketing and public relations roles.
In her previous role at MYAirline, Linda’s commercial skills were key to negotiating aircraft leases with lessors, OEMs, and other major business partners. She also managed aircraft insurance policies and liaised directly with insurers and reinsurers. Throughout her career, Linda has held commercial positions at AirAsia, Volvo Trucks, Sony Malaysia, and 7-Eleven Sdn Bhd.
With over 15 years of experience as an engineer in aviation, Helmy has a strong understanding of regulations and a proven track record of leading teams to achieve operational excellence. In his previous role at MYAirline, he played a pivotal role in setting up the airline and obtaining regulatory approvals.
Helmy’s career path began as a Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer at Malaysia Airlines. He has progressively built upon his technical expertise by obtaining a Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering and a B1.1 CAAM License. His educational background and extensive hands-on experience make him a well-rounded aviation professional with a deep understanding of both technical and regulatory aspects of the industry.
